Lets Make a Deal!

If you grew up in the 60’s, you may remember the show “Lets Make a Deal!” Although they have remade the show a few times since then, we know those were the best years 😉  If you havent watched the show before, I have included a link of a short clip of the show. (Lets Make a Deal)

Often when we stumble upon a rough season, we will try and play a game of lets make a deal with God. Am I right? We try to guess and pick the right door instead of just trusting God. You may even try to bargain with him too. Its ok, you can admit it because I am guilty of it too. Example: “help me pass this test and I will stop smoking” or “I promise to not do this if you help me make rent”.

Before I had a relationship with God, this was my MO. I tried to make a deal pretty much every day. I promised I would stop one sin to get something I needed but before long, I was back doing that same sin while still asking for God to do certain things. Once I accepted Jesus into my heart, began a relationship with God and starting praying/trusting instead of bargaining… things changed. Instead of Lets Make a Deal it was more like the Price is Right!

Right now, I am in a partial rough season and I am trying my best to trust God. As of June 5th (hopefully not sooner but thats not up to me) I will be out of a job. I have been with this company for four years and I am not sure which door I should choose. Do I pick door #1 where I try to stay home? Do I pick door #2 and pick this job? Or do I pick door #3 where this happens? I also can’t just think of myself, I have a family to think about as well.

All emotions aside though, I am trusting God that everything will fall into place. With much prayer and trust, before long I know I will have a praise report to share. I am excited and nervous of this new season that I am about to enter. When we are obedient and trust God, great things will happen. (Romans 8:28 – And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.) This may also give me the opportunity to work more on my book and The Grieving Light!

God never tells us that the journey or season is going to be easy but he promises to be by our side in everything that we go through (good and bad). Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

So which door will you choose? Even if I have to sit here for awhile, we know sometimes prayers aren’t answered right away, I will trust and wait.
